The aviation and tourism industries are slowly reopening. With strict health protocols in place, many people are now resuming their travel plans whether for work or for recreation. Blogger Jessica Leonard shares the new guidelines for air travel.

Wear a face mask even while inside the aircraft

It's a must to wear a face mask while inside the plane. Even if many airlines have added hospital-grade air filters to their aircrafts, they still require passengers to wear their masks, especially when they are not eating or drinking. Some airlines even require the use of face shields for added protection. Jessica Leonard says that this is a good move for airlines because the virus can easily spread through respiratory droplets in closed spaces.

Clean surfaces

From the airport to the aircraft, Jessica Leonard suggests cleaning surfaces with antibacterial wipes. Even if airport staff and airline crew are doing their best to provide extra care to ensure cleanliness, passengers should still do their part by cleaning their seats, air vents, handles, and other commonly used surfaces to prevent the spread of the virus. Personal belongings like bags and gadgets should also be disinfected

regularly, especially when traveling.

Stay seated

Different airlines have different methods to ensure physical distancing. But one of the safest ways to prevent contracting the virus while onboard the aircraft is to avoid moving around while inside the plane even if the seatbelt sign is off. While it's relatively safe to use the toilet or to order food, experts suggest staying seated especially during short flights to prevent interacting with others.
